Dear Thought Leader,

I love the month of June.  With convocation season upon us, it’s time of year to celebrate academic excellence and achievements in learning and innovation. Check out this video link with a medley of recent convocation speeches sure to inspire future careers!

On the K12 front, it’s a time where students and teachers look forward to the much anticipated end of year school celebrations with a sharp eye on the summer holidays. Of interest, the recent report we feature making a link between excessively hot classrooms  and student performance. Given the recent hot spell, I can’t image sitting in a classroom with mid 30’s celsius temperatures with no air conditioning as a student or teacher for that matter!

On the MindShare front, we’re thrilled to announce Best Selling author, Thomas C. Murray as our Opening keynote at the 9th Canadian EdTech Leadership Summit--October 11 and a strategic partnership with the University of Toronto MScSM Program Mississauga as the ‘NEW’ site of our conference which is conveniently located near our MindShare Workspace for our pre-conference Ignite VIP reception.  Super Early Bird pricing ends this weekend!

As we finalize plans for the ISTE 18 CanAm Celebration of Excellence Meetup, be sure to drop me a note if you’re going! It’s not too late to register! We have over 300 educators from across Canada converging on Chicago June 24-27.

We’re always looking for content contributors in the way of blogs, podcasts, events and news stories! Please drop me a note to share!

Until next time, keep the digital learning curve steep!

Best,

In a world where the kind of things that are easy to teach and test have also become easy to digitise and automate, it will be our imagination, our awareness and our sense of responsibility that will enable us to harness the opportunities of the 21st century to shape the world for the better.

Tomorrow’s schools will need to help students think for themselves and join others, with empathy, in work and citizenship. They will need to help students develop a strong sense of right and wrong, and sensitivity to the claims that others make.

University of British Colombia - May 28th, 2018

Whether it’s French fries on the menu or an entire deep-fried turkey, disposing of used cooking oil can be a headache. Only a small amount of it can be composted, and dumping the rest down the drain can result in blocked pipes. For university food services departments tasked with preparing food for thousands of students, the challenge of disposing used cooking oil is exponential.
