As proud sponsors of FRC1325 I attended the Ontario Championships and the Education Forum this past weekend. The excitement in the pit area reminded me of an F1 race! Fascinating to learn about impact from alumni who have achieved great success thriving in STEM careers. 
If you're into #edtech and never attended a FIRST Robotics Canada's a 'Must Do'! As proud sponsors of #FRC1325 I attended the Ontario Championships and the Education Forum this past weekend. The excitement in the pit area remimded me of an F1 race! Fascinating to learn about impact from alumni who have achieved great success thriving in #stem careers. Speaking of which one of the highlights was our lunch group that included frc alumni, frc's past president & co-founder, Mark Breadner tdsb teacher and three super successful founders of edtech companies Logics Academy Ramy Ghattas InspireEd Kyle Boyko Knowledgehook Travis Ratnam Lambo Jayapalan and myself MindShare Learning.. The passion and desire to make an impact was awe inspiring! Congrats to FRC1325 for qualifying for the world's in Texas! Looking forward to next year! 1. Nearly Half of High School Students Say Generative AI will Significantly Change the Future Workforce, Global Survey Reveals

With the rapid rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI), nearly one in two high school students polled think the workforce as we know it today will undergo a major transformation, a new global survey shows.


More than 48% of those queried believe that hard skills will become less important and soft skills, such as reasoning and creativity, will increase in demand, according to the survey, conducted in March by Philadelphia-based Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
2. 21 Surrey students shortlisted for Schulich Leader STEM scholarships, April 02, 2024
One Grade 12 student from every secondary school in the district is among this year’s 1,500 nominees, shortlisted from more than 300,000 applicants. The six-figure scholarship is for students who demonstrate a passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
3. Students Take Learning Outdoors at rare Charitable Research Reserve, April 02, 2024

Students had the extraordinary opportunity to explore the ancient woods of Cambridge on snowshoes. This experience helped students bridge the gap between the classroom and the natural environment while also allowing for a deeper level of understanding through experiential and investigative hands-on learning.
4. Saskatchewan Students to have 24/7 Online Access to High School, April 05, 2024

High school and Adult 12 student transcripts will be available online beginning in summer 2024, through a partnership with the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC), which owns MyCredsTM.
5. Kids call for more lessons on AI after fake nudes posted by London Catholic students, April 04, 2024

London police are investigating after students at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School started sharing AI-altered nude photos of their peers this week. Officials at the school say student pictures have been copied from social media sites, then altered using artificial intelligence to make the person in the photo appear nude. The photos have been shared through group chats, officials say.

Students have submitted more than 22 million papers that may have used generative AI in the past year, new data released by plagiarism detection company Turnitin shows.

McMaster University has released provisional guidelines to help employees use artificial intelligence (AI) effectively and responsibly in their work. For example, this technology could be used to help brainstorm ideas, summarize text, enhance presentations and analyze datasets.
8. Student Success Shines at Fleming’s Innovation and Technology Showcase, April 04, 2024

Like most university students, the student developers of BraVRy, an innovative virtual reality (VR) mental health platform, understand the burdens that come with balancing academics, extracurriculars, social life, physical health and overall well-being.

Driven by their experiences and passion for mental wellness, when the opportunity arose late last year to participate in Alberta’s neurotechnology hackathon, natHACKS, the six members of the BraVRy team knew they wanted to address the stigma surrounding mental health treatment.
9. First-ever Creative AI Hub Symposium explores impact of AI on creative industries, April 09, 2024

Hosted by RTA Professors Dr. Hossein Rahnama and Dr. Afsoon Soudi, the first-ever Creative AI Symposium brought together faculty, students, and industry experts alike for a day of exploration, discovery and conversation regarding the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the creative industries. Noting that the creative disciplines are prone to disruptions, both Dr. Rahnama and Dr. Soudi commented that the convergence of creativity and AI is vital in keeping up with future shifts in the industry.
10. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces billions to build Canada's AI capacity, April 07, 2024

The Liberal government is setting aside $2.4 billion in the upcoming budget to build capacity in artificial intelligence. The bulk of that — $2 billion worth — is going into a fund that will aim to provide access to computing capabilities and technical infrastructure.
