Musings - Connectors, Leaders, People on the Move!

It's hard to believe that this week's FETC conference marked my 20th year attending the 2nd largest EdTech conference in North America. Depsite being sold a couple of years ago, FETC remains one of the key 'goto' conferences we consider leading-edge and a high priority for MindShare to attend in order to stay at the forefront of innovation in education. I look forward to podcasting this week on the EdTech evolution that I observed over the past 20 years.

As I reflect back, what stands out to me most are the amazing and passionate people I've met both in education and industry. The overwhelming majority of colleagues remain in the education space mainly because they are passionate about learning and the opportunity to make an impact on student success.

Also of interest, this year marks my 20th anniversary of being part of Kevin O'Leary's The Learning Company that was sold to Mattel. We are planning a reunion of TLC colleagues at the ISTE conference this June in Phildelphia. Drop me a note if you're a TLC alum and intersted in going. Our reunion committee includes: Kathy Hurley, Deb deVries and James Ruddy.

Christopher Usih takes the reins as the new Chief Superintendent of Schools for the Calgary Board of Education (CBE)

Congratulations to MindShare's friend Mr. Usih former Associate Director of Education at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). He holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Manitoba and additional qualifications in mathematics and computer science. He has more than 28 years of experience as an educator.
Congratulations to Gali Bar-Ziv New President & CEO .@LingoMediaCorp #ELL One to watch for 2019!

OECD Trends Shaping Education 2019
In case you missed it! Trends Shaping Education examines major economic, political, social and technological trends affecting education.  While the trends are robust, the questions raised in this book are suggestive, and aim to inform strategic thinking and stimulate reflection on the challenges facing education – and on how and whether education can influence these trends.
