Dear Thought Leader,
What an inspiring, busy and fun final week it’s been for K12 educators. Thanks for sharing the excitement on social media as we’re still settling back in from ISTE18 Chicago and processing our learning, news and new product insights! Watch for more highlights in our July/August Summer issue!
With some 25,000 education & technology leaders converging into one conference, ISTE18 can officially lay claim to North America’s largest EdTech conference. However, it’s a double edged sword when it comes to access to sessions and services with long lineups. Patience paid off with amazing presenters and plenty of informal learning chats and connecting with new friends and twitter colleagues. Check out my twitter handle @mindsharelearn to see highlights from ISTE18.
Our 14th CanAm Celebration of Excellence meetup was one of ISTE’s highlights attracting the largest Canadian contingent ever in attendance with almost half of the 400 Canadian education and technology partners in attendance. One of the highlights of the night was a surprise appearance by Grammy award winning Buddy Guy, who belted out a few legendary blues tunes. Special thanks to our sponsors and guests for helping make our ISTE CanAm our best ever!
Don’t miss your chance to save $100 on your registration to the 9th Canadian EdTech Leadership Summit--Reimaging Sustainable Learning Environments, which ends Friday, July 13th! We’re thrilled to announce our 3rd Annual Canadian EdTech Awards. Voting is now open!
I hope you enjoy this week’s Top 10 new stories. We’ll be resuming our Top10 in September. In the meantime, you can follow our latest updates on twitter and instagram.
Have a fantastic summer! Until next time keep the learning curve steep!
Best,
|

|
|
Toronto Sun - June 22, 2018 |
|
|
Hundreds of thousands of Canadian students will graduate high school this month and embark on a hopeful and exciting, yet uncertain future.
The world of work is changing rapidly; jobs that promised steady incomes for people with little education beyond high school are vanishing due to automation, and even for many with more advanced degrees, the transition to full-time, well-paid and stable work is getting more difficult, and progression into adulthood more elusive.

6. 4 Key Takeaways from "What School Could be"

teacherthought - June 25, 2018 |

I first met Ted Dintersmith a few years ago in a meeting in downtown Louisville, KY (TeachThought is located in Louisville) to which I was invited to discuss innovation in Kentucky’s schools. I don’t think I’d yet seen his documentary, Most Likely To Succeed, but I was struck by his approachable but focused demeanor and later became impressed by the work he had done and would go on to do. Fast forward to the present and I think even Ted has been surprised at his trajectory and remarkable journey since then. |
